New-ness::
In a very difficult, complex time where there are challenges of traditional moral values that are very commonplace in our world, he really has been a kind of a rock of Gibraltar, so to speak -- a really solid foundation as we look to the future.
Bishop William Skylstad, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on Pope Benedict XVI
Yesterday, the college of cardinals elected Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He chose the name Benedict XVI because I think one of the goals of his papacy is to forge peace and unity within the Church. The announcement came as a surprise for me since I was in my Math 54 summer class when our instructor mentioned that the Catholics have a new Pope in the person of Cardinal Ratzinger. Hmm.. Ok lang naman sa kin siya kasi mukha naman siyang ok nung nag homily siya nung funeral mass ni Pope John Paul II. A number of people on the other hand, were quite disappointed with the choice because Ratzinger was very much known because of his being conservative and traditional. He was a strict enforcer of Church doctrine under Pope John Paul II that many groups of Christian liberals think that his papacy will be divisive and that more Catholics will stop going to Church especially in Europe and the United States. Some others think that Cardinal Ratzinger is an excellent choice because he is a great theologian and pastor. :) Let's give Pope Benedict XVI a shot. This is going to be a difficult task and he's going to need all the support that we can give him. :) Anwar was voted off Idol today. The elimination didn't come as a shock since I felt yesterday that he was going. America loves Constantine and Carrie. It's a long shot for the rest of the Idols. Pero tignan natin... :) Baka mag iba ang ikot ng mundo. *Do you remember.... Na na na... Dancing in September. Tama ba? :p* And Lynn and Alex got eliminated in the Amazing Race. Rob and Amber also got married last Saturday. Wala lang. :) Mga balita. HAHA! So.... I've been away since last week. I got sick from Wednesday up to Sunday. I'm still having the colds and the cough but I don't have fever anymore. Last Wednesday, went to school to get my grades and Ben came to our house. Thursday, went to school again to enlist classes. Got a 7 AM Math 54 class. HA. :) Friday, stayed at home to rest then went to Den's debut. Whoa! Ang ganda ni Den. :) Saw April and the rest of my classmates. :p On Saturday, I was bed ridden most of the day because had a relapse. Grr... Lagnatin na sipunin pa. Stayed in bed on Sunday and slept. Waaah... :) Ayoko nang magkasakit!!! Summer classes started on Monday. Erk. Medyo terror yung teacher. Terror magpa exam. Manjo? Manjologs? Napanaginipan ko nga yung pangalan niya eh. The pace is killing me right now. Para kong nilulunod at inaalon... Help me. Someone help me... Just got home from my piano lessons. I miss the piano. Learning new pieces and a sonatina by Clementi. Excited!!! Practice. Practice. Practice. :) Better start studying... Math... Calculus.... Oh no. :)
Pope Benedict XVI [He doesn't have the same teddy bear cuteness as Pope John Paul II but the new pope is cute in a very lolo way. :)] Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger Being an adult means having a faith which does not follow the waves of today's fashions or the latest novelties. A faith which is deeply rooted in friendship with Christ is adult and mature.
